Teens: Advice on How to Get Your First Job In Madison

posted Tuesday, November 18, 2008 8:00 PM
by Brett Farmiloe, Pursue the Passion - Madison

Tuesday is the day where I take a question I’ve received and answer it on this blog. Today’s question is from Lucia, a freshman at Fairfax High School in Lavene , Arizona . Lucia asks: Where do you think a teen’s first job should be at or could be at? To answer this question, I would keep two things in mind. One is that your options for a job are only as limited as you allow them to be. In other words, if you think that the only job for a 16 year old ... (Read More)

We Want to Keynote Wisconsin's 2009 SHRM Conference

I have to say that Madison is a city where I am jealous of every resident who lives there.  Especially the Badgers who get to go to State Street whenever they want.  It's beautiful there, and I think we need to come back to Wisconsin to keynote the 2009 Wisconsin SHRM Conference.   During our time there we interviewed Kim and Jason, brazen careerist Penelope Trunk, and a handful of bio tech entrepreneurs.  Here's a little more ... It’s official.  While I am a late on the scene, having joined the Twitter revolution less than 60 hours ago, I am already hooked.  No, I’m not addicted to knowing who is going to the grocery store, the coffee shop and the bathroom.  (seriously people – note item #4 in the tips section below).  I’m addicted to the knowledge sharing.  A curious person by nature, I’m finding Twitter to be the equivalent of a 7-shot ... Remarkable People

Last month I had the distinct honor of meeting Desmond Tutu. The evening was amazing in itself and made all that more special by the fact that I shared it with my mom. I wish you could have been there…..we were at the VIP reception after the Archbishop’s talk…..the room was filled with excited chatter, the clinking of glasses and the laugher of friends. Reverend Tutu was mingling with guests. I had spoken with him earlier in the evening and now I ... (Read More)

Yes YOU Can

by Amy Chastek, Herzing College Online Campus

So sitting here at 8pm on a Monday night winding down after having attended an all day meeting that explored using social media to reach out to people; i.e. blogging, twitter and such.  Also thinking about the recent elections and the power behind the “yes we can” verbiage used in the campaign for President.  Thinking to myself that everyone has “yes we can” moments throughout our lives and having talked “blogs” all day long, ... Tips for Receiving Jobs-by-Email from Jobing.com

posted Monday, November 17, 2008 5:14 PM
by Randy Anderson, Jobing.com Community Relations - Madison

If you haven’t found that perfect job yet - consider using a Jobs-by-Email Agent. A Jobs-by-Email Agent is a feature that delivers you jobs that match your search requirements either daily or weekly. For instance you could set up an agent for “Healthcare/Medical” (Job Category) and the keyword “Nurse” and receive regular emails on the results of that search. To set up a Jobs-by-Email agent: 1. Log in to your My Jobing! account 2. Click on ... (Read More)
